Peermade Development Society

Wellspring is in the early stages of support for a new project in southern India. Peermade Development Society (PDS), formed in 1980, is launching a new program to provide Ayurveda Therapist training (oil massage therapy) to marginalized youth in the Idukki District, Kerala. This is a comprehensive training program, for only 20 women and 20 men per year. Wellspring is support the work of PDS by funding the training costs of 20 women. This division of PDS operates a hospital and research centre, pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, and offers franchise opportunities worldwide which in turn provide job opportunities for therapists who have completed their training. For the villages in and around Kerala, PDS operates a medicinal plant conservation and cultivation program that provides work for village farmers and their families.
