Established in 2003, ADPARE’s main focus has been on developing direct assistance programs for the social inclusion of Romanians trafficked in Romania and abroad. Though they are located in Bucharest, its beneficiaries come from all over the country. In the field of assistance services, ADPARE supports around 50-60 victims per year.
The direct beneficiaries targeted by this project are mainly women (between ages 18-25) and girls (older than 14 years old) who have been trafficked for purposes such as: sexual exploitation, domestic work, and constraint to commit crimes. They come equally from urban and rural environments – from all across the country. Most come from families confronting social difficulties or economic difficulties.
ADPARE’s mission is to ensure that trafficked persons are provided adequate protection and are treated with dignity and respect. ADPARE has been an active partner in developing prevention programs, training for grassroots professionals, contributing to anti-trafficking policies, research, and networking at the national and transnational level.
Their current project’s objective is to reduce vulnerability for trafficked victims and their families through the implementation of an integrative assistance service. They work to improve the physical security, ensure the emotional recovery, and increase the social and economic sustainability of trafficked women and girls.
ADPARE’s assistance services are addressed in a flexible manner – customized to the needs of the beneficiaries. An assistance program can last an average between one and three years. Their assistance services include material assistance, psychological support, medical care, social care, educational assistance, and legal counsel.
The structure of their long-term care program has four phases: Initial Stage, Intermediate Stage, Reintegration Stage, and Monitoring Stage.
This year, Wellspring International aims to provide $15,900 USD for ADPARE to help 8 trafficked victims with material assistance (food, personal care supplies, housing items, clothing, and footwear); medical assistance (medical check-ups and medication); social assistance (local and external transport for family visits, and communication costs); educational assistance (equipment needed for professional training / school supplies and leisure time activities); and legal assistance (juridical counseling, legal fees, and representation in court).
